Ghee Rice Recipe

Do you remember the days, relatives, friends coming and knocking our door without informing? Those are the days where there was no smart phones, internet … Friends and family used to drop in anytime, when they were in town. I Love those days !

It was a customary to prepare the festival meals for the guests. Festival meals menu will be usually  one rice dish, payasam and Kosambari and palya   along with Rasam and some Majjige HuLi. There were no refrigerator to store the vegetable. My mom used to come up with quick dishes, one of them is this rice dish, Thuppanna as we call this in kannada. This ghee rice is so simple yet so delicious. If you have cooked rice ready, this ghee rice can be done with in no time at all, just 5 minutes is enough. As a kid I used to love this rice and now it is  same with my kids too :). Masala Dalvada Recipe / Masala Ambode

Ambode/Dal vada are always a evergreen snack which are very appetizing and satisfying.  These are crunchy out side and soft inside snacks, perfect evening coffee or Tea/Chai companion. With the  coming winter in mind, this masala ambode/ masala dal vade is hot and spicy snack for the cold winter evenings. If you prepare the vadas as soon as you prepare the mix, it absorbs less oil, some what I call this snack a guilt free healthy treat. Kids love the vadais with tomato ketch up.

Pineapple Coconut Burfi Recipe

Sweets are always a traditional part of our festival meal. One of the most popular sweets are burfi/barfi .The flavor of a barfi is often enhanced with fruits or nuts. The base ingredient can be coconut, besan/gram flour  or even with milk khoya   Coconut burfi is most popular and flavorful burfi. For krishna Jayanthi, DeepavaLI/diwali and for navarathri festivals we do prepare these burfi. Here I have a very tasty Pineapple – coconut burfi recipe for upcoming Navarathri Golu and Deepavali/Diwali festival.

Banana Idli recipe with step by step instructions with pictures. If we have over ripe banana the first recipe comes to our mind is banana bread or muffins, which uses maida or all purpose flour. Instead of the cake or the bread we have another delicious healthy recipe using over ripe bananas.This is special malnad dish.
It is so common in most of our homes to bring bananas and leave it on the counter, end up with over ripe ones. Either we can trash them or using the same we can make some awesome dishes like Banana Rotti, Banana saasive/ Mosaru Bajji. and this Banana Idli.
