Sprouted Black Chana Usli

Kadalekaalu / black channa sundal /usli reminds me of my childhood days . Every month we used to go to Chandramouleshawara temple in Mysore for sankashtahara ganapathi pooja. There in that like most of the temples, after the pooja they used to give the kadalekaalu usli as prasadam along with karigadubu.

VangiBath

When it come to boxed lunch always some kind of rice dishes are very popular. Among those Vangi bath/ eggplant/brinjal rice is very popular rice dish. Even the powder is named after this vangibaath, though we use it to make varieties of rice dish using the same vangibath powder. Green eggplants gives a distinct flavor to the baath, we rarely get that variety here, so I am using the purple one.

Sweet Pongal | Sankranthi recipes

Sweet Pongal
Every time I visit India, one of my mandatory stops is at my sister's friend Jayashree's house. Why? She makes the best sweet pongal and puliyogare that I have ever eaten. The sakkarai pongal is absolutely divine. I got this recipe from her so I could share it with you all. When she makes the sweet, she uses 3/4 cup of ghee, so I have modified it to use only 3 tablespoons. It still tastes amazing, so it's an excellent compromise on taste and health.
