Instructions

  1. Wash and cut the plantain edges, then pressure cook the bananas on medium heat. Turn off the heat after 2 whistles.
  2. Add all ingredients listed above (except rava) and mix well.
  3. Take a tablespoon or the desired amount of the balekayi mix and shape it into cutlets as shown in the video. Prepare a few and keep them ready.
  4. To make the Balekayi cutlet:
  5. Heat a tava on medium-low heat and add some oil.
  6. Dip the prepared cutlets in the rava and toast them on both sides on the tava until they turn golden brown. Add more oil as needed.
  7. Once the cutlets are golden brown, remove them and serve hot with ketchup or green chaat chutney.
  8. For the next batch, add more oil and repeat the same procedure to make more cutlets. You can make around 15 small cutlets.
