Kashaya Powder Recipe, Healthy Ayurvedic Powder

Malnad region and even coastal Karnataka morning beverage is always kashaya.  With fresh aroma of the roots,seeds and made with fresh milk will wake you up in the morning. This kashaya is a hot beverage which has many health benefits, it is excellent drink to prevent/soothe the cough, cold and flu symptoms. Prepare the kashaya powder and prepare kashaya and drinking every day will keep your body prakruthis (vata, pitta and kapha) balanced.

Here we have kashaya powder with many ingredients which is not available every where, in that case use basic ingredients which is available in your pantry. You cannot skip coriander seeds, cumin seeds, fennel seeds, black pepper, turmeric root(dried).  All other ingredients required but not a must.

Here is the step by step recipe with pictures of all roots and seeds. Use which ever the ingredients available and prepare the healthy kashaya powder and enjoy!

Instructions

  1. Coriander seeds
  2. Cumin Seeds
  3. Black Pepper
  4. fennel seeds
  5. Long pepper/hippali/ippali
  6. cardamom peels
  7. cardamoms, cloves
  8. Ashwagandha root
  9. Neggina mullu
  10. vayu vilanga/vidanga
  11. Jyesta madhu/ licorice
  12. Lavancha roots
  13. turmeric root(dried)
  14. jaikai/nutmeg
  15. Dried ginger
  16. baje
  17. Before you grind the ingredients crush the hard roots using mortar and pestle.

  19. Then powder all the ingredients in a mixer to a coarse powder
  20. We have this powder ready, once it is cooled completely, store it in a airtight container.
