Palak Dosa recipe / spinach dosa Recipe
Easy, healthy and tasty breakfast Palak dosa recipe. No fermentation needed to make this palak / Spinach dosa, also it is vegan, gluten free breakfast as well.

Ingredients

  • big bunch / 2 big handful of palak / spinach ( clean wash and keep it ready)
  • 1.5 cup rice dosa rice or any regular rice is ok
  • 2 tbsp Chana dal / Split bengal gram
  • 3 tbsp urad dal /split black gram
  • around 10 green chillies more or less
  • 1 tbsp coriander seeds/ dhania
  • 1 tsp jeera cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated coconut optional
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 1 onion optional
  • 1/8 tsp hing
  • 2 tbsp Jaggery
  • 1.5 tsp salt or salt to taste
  • in Small lemon size Tamarind wash and soakwater
  • Oil to make the dose
Spinach Dosa Recipe | Palak Dosa

Instructions

  1. Wash rice and dals thoroughly and soak it with 2 cups of water for minimum 4 hours clean and Wash the spinach , keep it ready
  2. Wash rice and dals thoroughly and soak it with 2 cups of water for minimum 4 hours
  3. Transfer around 3/4 cup water from the soaked dals, Grind the soaked rice and dals along with jaggery, green chillies, coriander seeds, jeera/cumin seeds, pepper and coconut to a fine batter. add water if needed. Then add grated ginger and grind it .
  4. Transfer the batter to a big pan. let the consistency be as shown in the video
  5. Squeeze the tamarind and add the tamarind extract to the batter
  6. Finely chop onion and spinach.( i used a food processor to chop them)
  7. Add chopped onion and spinach, salt and hing to the batter and mix it really well.
  8. Consistency of the final batter is
To make the Palak Dosa:
  1. Grease and heat the tava on medium high heat
  2. Once the tava is hot, take a ladle full of batter, pour it in the center and spread it in circular motion
  3. Put 1 tsp of oil on the dosa and cover it and cook it
  4. After 1/2 a minute or so remove the lid and flip the dosa and cook it
  5. Dosa is ready to serve.
  6. Repeat the same procedure with the remaining batter,( grease the tava only if needed)
