Payasa/kheer/payasam can be prepared from many different things like Fruits, dals, rice you name it. Each payasam is has its own flavor and taste. Here is one of my favorite payasam using jackfruit/halasina hannu. It is very easy to make. Make sure you prepare this during the Jackfruit season and enjoy!

Cucumber Mango Sambar Recipe, How to Make Sambar Recipes

Few years back when my co-sister said I am making mango cucumber sambar, I was really surprised. Sambar with ripe Mango? With green mango ok but with the ripe mango? She said taste it and then comment, yeah! she is absolutely right, it is awesome sambar with sour and sweet from the mango and unique flavor from the Mangalore variety cucumber/dosakai. Here in US we don't get variety mangos but if you are in India or where you can find these lovely small mangos you should try this Sambar to experience the taste.

Chayote Squash/Seeme badanekaayi Stir Fry Recipe, How to make Seemebadane kayi Palya Recipe

When I was reading about this seemebadane kayi/chayote Chayote/Bangalore Brinjal/Chow Chow I found out it is actually a fruit. I always though it is a vegetable. Chayote is low calorie, high fiber squash with excellent source of Vitamin C, and folate. Seeme badanekaayi also contains antioxidant flavonoids that help to destroy harmful free radicals. We can make chutney, sambar and use this with many other vegetables and also see many Mexican dishes calls for Chayote.For weight loss this is one of the fruit/vegetable you should add to your diet. Here is a simple recipe of Chayote palya/Stir fry.

Dill leaves/sabsige soppu is very healthy greens, helps to boost the digestion, helps in reducing insomnia, menstrual and respiratory discomforts and so on. Our Ayurvedic doctor said chewing on handful of the raw dill greens everyday helps to protect against the arthritis. Coming to the recipe we are using this dill leaves along with the toor dal to make a healthy palya goes well as side dish to rasam rice, sambar rice. Simple yet delicious.
