Bisibele bath is one of the most delicious and unique dish to Karnataka. I believe there is no one in India who never heard of this popular healthy wholesome rice dish. This bisibelebath has everything , protein, fiber, carbohydrates ..We use pigeon peas /toor dal as protein source, vegetables, peas and rice as main ingredients. You should try this bisi bele bath to know the taste.

Millets believed to be good for diabetic patients since it releases the glucose slowly. All   millets are non glutinous grains.

Different Millets:

Kannada –  English

Navane   –   Foxtail millet

Harka    –    Kodo Millet

saame  – little millet

Oodalu  – barnyard millet

sajje   –  pearl millet

Raagi  –  finger millet

jola – Sorghum

Rava Kesari Recipe

The most popular south indian festival sweet is Kesari bath or sooji halwa. This dessert is perfect for festival days or just to quench the sweet cravings! With the touch of cardamom and natural color and cooling effect from the saffron makes it more festive and delicious sweet.It is common to relish kesari bath with khara bath/uppittu , popularly called chow-chow bath. This combination dish can be prepared in 30 minutes( yes , both sweet and khara), good for sudden unexpected guests. You can put the kesari bath on a greased plate and spread it and cut into desired shapes, it will be semolina cake, best for the parties and get together.

Among our many healthy breakfast foods upma/uppittu is one of the easiest, tastiest and healthiest ones. We can prepare plain and simple upma with roasted rava , seasoning and water, or adding many vegetables and making varieties of upma/uppittu. The popular breakfast combination you see in the Karnataka restaurant menu is Uppittu and kesari bath aka chow chow bath. It is served on the plantain leaf with some ghee..yum.
