Indian Pumpkin Pie

10 to 13  years back we had this group called Makkala Balaga, small group of my close friends – 5 to 6 moms  and our kids. The purpose of this group was to teach our kids to read and write Kannada and teach them Shlokas. We were all committed to this Friday evening meeting, kids used to eagerly wait for Friday meeting since they got to play together after the class. After the meeting, we used to sit around and drink a nice, hot cup of coffee together. Occasionally there used to be a snack to go with it. We used to chat, laugh… unforgettable days! Thanks to these meetings, my son speak, read, and write Kannada.

We used to celebrate festivals together too, preparing the food according the festival we were celebrating :) mmm.. I’m getting hungry just thinking about the yummy foods. Everyone was a great cook. I remember for one of the DeepavaLi get-together, Bharati prepared this one dish, I don’t know the name of it, but in our home kids call this Indian Pumpkin Pie. We loved it so much on that Deepavali day, it has become a regular “Pie” in our home.

Banana Idli Recipe, Idli Recipes

Banana Idli recipe with step by step instructions with pictures. If we have over ripe banana the first recipe comes to our mind is banana bread or muffins, which uses maida or all purpose flour. Instead of the cake or the bread we have another delicious healthy recipe using over ripe bananas.This is special malnad dish.
It is so common in most of our homes to bring bananas and leave it on the counter, end up with over ripe ones. Either we can trash them or using the same we can make some awesome dishes like Banana Rotti, Banana saasive/ Mosaru Bajji. and this Banana Idli.

Ganesha and Gowri festivals are  over, left with lots of fruits! No matter what festival we celebrate we will be definitely left with lots of bananas for sure. What can we do with all those bananas?  We know the recipe for Banana Saasive/Banana Mosaru bajji, now we have the recipe to make Banana Rotti/baalehannina rotti. These banana flavored rottis are very soft, delicious and easy to make.

Jackfruit Payasa Recipe, How to make Jackfruit Kheer Recipe

Payasa/kheer/payasam can be prepared from many different things like Fruits, dals, rice you name it. Each payasam is has its own flavor and taste. Here is one of my favorite payasam using jackfruit/halasina hannu. It is very easy to make. Make sure you prepare this during the Jackfruit season and enjoy!
