Ribbon Pakoda | Ribbon murukku recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup rice flour
  • ¾ cup gram flour / Chana besan
  • 2 pinches of hing use gluten free hing
  • 1 tbsp butter (use oil for Vegan option)
  • ¾ tsp salt or salt to taste
  • ½ to ¾ tsp pepper powder or red chilli powder
  • Little turmeric powder
  • oil to fry.
  • around ¾ cup water
  • chalki press with ribbon pakoda disc.

Instructions
 

  • Combine rice flour, gram flour, turmeric powder in a bowl, mix it, and then add butter and dry mix it.
  • Then add salt, pepper powder or chilli powder mix it . Add water little by little, mix. Add water until you get medium soft dough.
  • I used around 1/2 cup+2 tbsp (water quantity depends on the flours)
  • Keep the required amount of oil in a pan on medium heat, grease the chakli press and place the required disc, and the dough in the press as shown
  • Once the oil is hot enough- check by adding little dough , it has to come up immediately, then press the chakli press in circular motion as shown.
  • After a minute or so flip the ribbon pakoda to the other side, cook both sides until the pakoda turns golden brown on both sides
  • Once ribbon pakoda turned golden brown on both sides, remove and place it on a paper towel (using a perforated ladle)
  • Repeat the same procedure with remaining dough.
